MaliQ - SmArt Peddler freestyle (1st verse) from Maliq on Vimeo.
Spitting a sick verse in a sick state earlier in the week. Thank you i feel much better now the madam took care of it. Cop the Dec/Jan edition of HYPE for a breakdown of my favorite verse from my favorite song on Sleepless in Seattle/ My Mind on Cap City. First episode in my new Hip Hop, Islam & Life video blog giving you a glimpse into yours truly, the man, the mc, the activist.
Trompie and i call this the unofficial 2010 anthem. Give me a call K’naan we can split that World Cup royalty dough. As you might or might not know this is meant to be the first single off A Mic & A Dream which should be dropping 2010 instead of this year by the look of things. Hopefully we can hit yall with a video sooner than that so sit tight.

I’m typing this sitting at the Red Bull Music Studios in Cape Town, the venue for A Third World Perspective which serves as a taster for things to come at the Red Bull Music Academy next year in London. Go to their website here for more information. All I can say is it’s been a crazy week for me just incredible being in the presence of such musical giants as Russ “The Dragon” (sound engineer for D’Angelo, The Roots, Common, Erykah Badu and the list is endless), Theo Crous (Springbok Nude Girls lead guitarist), Trevor Jackson (superstar UK DJ and producer), my mellow my man afro house superhero Black Coffee and of coz SA living legend Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse. That man is an ocean of knowledge, gave me a totally new perspective on my music both artistically and as a business.
May Allah, The King of all kings, have mercy on his soul. Ameen.
Or in MaliQ’s on words: Joburg city in the beast’s belly where we dwelly/ where i broke up with hip hop/ where i met wifey at…
